As I wrote in Part 2, Seoul is place where you can still have nice things, and below, are eight photo essays on my favorite nice things in Seoul.
It isn’t a best of Seoul list. Seoul cannot be “mastered” in two weeks, certainly not by an American guy who doesn’t speak Korean.
Anyways, that isn’t how I travel. I don’t zoom around a town going from place to place intent on making the “best of X” lists. I don’t want to do that, and I don’t think any outsider can do that, without huge intellectual injustice.
Instead, I find a few “average” places I like, then keep going back to them, to try and and be a bit of a regular, for a small amount of time. To try and blend in, as much as I can, and get a tiny sense of the city as the residents know it. And experience it. And think of it.
